Joseph J. Kobeski, 85, of the Greenwood section of Moosic, died Sunday at home. He is survived by his devoted wife the former Theresa I. Romanowski and they were married for 56 years. Born in the Minooka section of Scranton, he was the son of the late Konstanty and Amelia Winnicki Kobeski and faithfully served our country during WWII with the US Navy. Prior to his retirement, Joe worked for Lackawanna County Roads and Bridges. He served on the Riverside School Board for over 25 years and was very active in politics. Joe was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Dupont and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #20, Scranton His family was the center of his life and he was a devoted husband and father, who will be greatly missed. Also surviving are two sons, Joey, at home; David J., Washington D.C.; a brother, Henry and wife, Joan; and a sister Helen, all of Greenwood section of Moosic; Nieces and Nephews. A sister Vange Dobek preceded him in death. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., DuPont.
