Joseph “Joe” John Sallac, 86, of Salisbury passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at his home. He was born September 12, 1930 in Ellis Island, NY. After graduating from Wicomico High School in 1947 he joined the United States Navy and served in the Korean War. He was employed by Dresser Wayne until he retired in 1990 after 38 years of service. He loved to snow ski, work in his yard, played in the fast pitch league for 16 years, enjoyed going to the movies every Tuesday, and loved working out at Merritt where he was a Gold Member. He is survived by his wife, Edie Sallac; daughter, Sandy Townsend and Tommy Beale; grandchildren, Nicki and Aaron Townsend and Brandon Beale; six great-grandchildren, stepsons, Russell and James Campbell; and four step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth M. Sallac in 2000 and brother, Harry Sallac. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2pm at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Kyle Hubbard will officiate. Entombment will be held in Wicomico Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Joe to St. Jude, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
