Joseph was born on March 21, 1942 and passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017.

Joseph was a resident of Arizona at the time of passing.

He attended Brooklyn Prep and St. John's University.

After serving in the Army for two years, he joined United Press International (UPI) as a sports writer and rose to the position of executive sports editor.
