Somerville Joseph T. Bellantoni 85, died Thursday October 13, 2016 Joseph was born on May 10, 1931 and raised in the Bronx, New York, by his devoted parents, Joseph and Louise Bellantoni, before moving to Somerville with his wife, Joan, and his children in 1962 He graduated from Fordham University in 1952 with a degree in engineering and was employed as an Engineer at Midland Ross and other manufacturing companies for over 40 years, retiring in 1995. Joseph was a veteran of the US Army having proudly served during the Korean War. He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville. Joseph was also an award-winning track star at Fordham University where he received many medals including those from the Penn Relays and the NYRR Millrose Games. Joseph loved sports and was a fan of his NY teams, the Giants, Mets and Rangers. He was also an excellent golfer who treated his family to a fancy dinner whenever he had a particularly good day on the course. Joseph was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan, who he cared for and loved completely. He is survived by his son Ralph and his wife Marilyn, daughters, Diane Bellantoni and Lisa Cafro and her husband Carmen, and his grandchildren, Gustavo, Gemma, Tera, Anna, Carolyn, Luke and Judy. They will all miss their Dad and Pop Pop very much. Prayers will be said 830am Wednesday at the Bruce C VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave, Somerville 908-725-3111 followed by a 930am mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville. Interment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be 2-4pm & 7-9pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the World Wildlife Fund, 1250 24th Street, N.W. Washington, DC 20037.
