Josephine A. (Casey) Wagner, age 87, has departed her earthly life on February 17, 2015. Jo was born on December 9, 1927 to her parents, Ralph and Mary (Greth) Casey in Toledo, OH. Her childhood was spent in Upper Sandusky, OH growing up on her family farm, attending school at St. Peter & Paul. In 1948 she graduated from Mercy School of Nursing where she would continue her service as a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital and The Toledo Hospital, where she retired from in 1984. During this time, on a blind date, she met her future husband of 53 years, Robert E. Wagner. Bob and Jo began a life that included a commitment to their Catholic faith, raising 13 children, and instilling their hard work ethic and family values. Jo was a charter and lifelong member of St. Pius X Church, where all of her children attended and graduated. During her retirement years she was a volunteer for the Red Cross, enjoyed reading, knitting, cross word puzzles, travelling to her ancestors homeland, Ireland and across the United States. Her commitment to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was unwavering. Jo spent the last year at the Lakes of Monclova, where she enjoyed the company of her "Breakfast Club". Thank you to all the staff at the Lakes of Monclova, she loved her time with all of you.
Jo is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Steve Wagner and Rick Wagner, daughter, Linda DiCenzo, son-in-law, Doug Russell, great grandson, Bryan Mansor, brothers Bob Casey and Jim Casey, and sister, Rosemary Casey. Left to cherish her memories are sons, David (Marilyn) Wagner, Ron (Anita) Wagner, Kevin (Vicky) Wagner and John Wagner; daughters, Mary Ellen (Ron) Warns, Nancy (Doug) Mansor, Maggie Wagner, Judy Russell, Beth Wagner and Amy (Chad) Rupp; son-in-law Paul DiCenzo and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Schaefer. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends at H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home 3219 Tremainsville Rd (419-473-1301) on Friday, February 20 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3011 Carskaddon Avenue from 9:30 am until 10:30 am. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, on Saturday at 10:30 am. Final resting place will be Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests consideration of donations to St. Pius X Catholic Church, Notre Dame Academy, St. Francis DeSales, or to Cherry Street Mission.
