Josie Mae Williams, 84, of Bloomington, IN, formerly of Gary, IN, returned to her heavenly home on Friday, May 5, 2017. Her devotion to her family and her faith in Christ gave her strength throughout her life. She was a professional seamstress and quilter, and an energetic free spirit who was full of love and kindness for everyone she met. She was born in Vance, Mississippi on June 22, 1932 to Charlie Walton and Adella Evans Walton.

She is survived by her sister, Virlno Murrell of Bloomington, IN; step-brother Maurice Walton of Clarksdale, MS; step-sisters Ruthie Walton and Anita Walton of Lyon, MS; daughters, Annie Thomas Sewell of Tennessee, formerly of Gary, IN, Joann Walker Taylor (Hosie) and Frankie Willis of East St. Louis, IL; son, Thomas Doyle Sr. of Bloomington, IN; adopted son, Jack Cody Sr. (Rochelle) of Indianapolis, IN; 27 grandchildren , 86 great grandchildren, 37 great great grandchildren and one on the way. Josie is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her children, Lorraine Williams, Charles Jerome Williams, Frank Willis Jr., and Robert Nelson; her granddaughter, Shawnda Doyle; and her siblings Percy Walton, Charlie Lee Walton, and Bessie Jackson.

Josie was the matriarch of her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St, on Friday, May 12, 2017, from 5 - 8 p.m. and at Second Baptist Church, 321 N. Rogers St., Bloomington, IN on Saturday, May 13, 2017, from 10 a.m. - noon. Home going services will be held at Second Baptist Church, Bloomington, on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at noon, with Rev. Dr. Bruce Rose officiating. A private burial will be held in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
