Joyce C. Daponte formerly of James Island, 79, wife of Wallace A. Daponte, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017. The relatives and friends of Joyce and Wallace Daponte are invited to attend her graveside service, 11:00 am, Friday, December 22, 2017 at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St. Beaufort, SC 29902. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday evening December 21, 2017 at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC 29406. Please sign her guestbook at Joyce was born in Lafayette, Georgia on March 8, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Sarrah Owensby Cureton and Allen Cureton. Joyce was a graduate of the College of Charleston and retired teacher from Charleston County School District. She was a loving soul devoted to her family, children and animals. Some of her favorite things besides spending time with family were camping, nature, and spending time with her grandchildren and pets. She and her husband shared 58 years together. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Wallace, brother Jack Cureton, sisters Muriel Godfrey, Janie C. Taylor, Betty Cook, and Shirley Keown. Joyce is survived by her children, Georgia Van Nice (Kenny) of Hanahan, SC, Robbin Hair (David) of Bradenton, FL and Adam Daponte (Kim) of Waipahu, HI, grandchildren, Paul Hair (Sarah) of Bradenton, FL, Kelly Banerian (Allen) of Goose Creek, Stefan Hair, Katy Price (John Mark) of Hanahan, Scott Hair, Holly Hair, Anthony Daponte, Angelina Daponte, great-grandson Jacob William Banerian, an unborn great-granddaughter, nieces and nephews, James Godfrey (Susan) of Coquille, OR, Leon Godfrey (Kay) of Charleston, SC, Sarah Holeman of Charleston, SC, Judy Lee (Terry) of Madison, SD, Ronnie Hollingsworth of Falkville, Ala, Rebecca Salisbury (Robert) of Menlo, GA, Vickie Freeman (Brad) of Lafayette, GA, Ralph Taylor of Mexico, Kenny Taylor (JoAnn) of Charleston, SC, Joy Howard (John) of Charleston, SC, Wanda Ray of Charleston, SC, Scott Taylor (Terri) of Johns Island, SC, Allen Taylor (April) of North Charleston, SC, and Rhonda Dunn of Lafayette, GA.
