Joyce was born in Detroit, Michigan, the oldest of four daughters. Her father’s early death during the depression meant she had to quit High School to help support her family. It was the beginning of a life of service to others.

In 1949, Joyce married Harry Z Stoumbos, a recent immigrant from Greece. They had three sons, Zachary, George and Christopher. Joyce worked with Harry together in the family businesses, accounting and a travel agency. After Harry’s untimely death in 1979, Joyce continued to run the family accounting business.

Joyce was known in the Detroit area for her support and service to the Greek immigrant families. Joyce started her transition to Portland in 1988, when her granddaughter and namesake Zoey was born. By 1997 she had moved permanently to Portland.

Joyce had many passions, but most of all she loved children. She thrived spending time with her grandchildren and all her nieces and nephews. She was a tireless volunteer at the kids’ elementary school.

And Joyce loved to cook. Especially for large gatherings. She was in her element in the kitchen.

Joyce was a woman of strong faith. She was always ready to help and support her Church.

She will be missed.

Her love will always be remembered.
