Joycelyn Jean "Joy" Christensen, 92, passed away on January 1, 1018. Joy was born October 19, 1925 to Sigmund and Ida Stanek in Minneapois, MN, where she enjoyed a wonderful childhood, spending summers at their cabin on Mille Lacs Lake. While at St. Olaf College, Joy met and married James Christensen, who would later become the founding pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Libertyville, where Joy served as the organist. They were a great team and rejoiced in celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary in 2017.

Joy will be forever loved by her husband, Jim Christensen, her daughter, Barbara Schulz, her son, Jon Christensen and his wife Nancy, and her granddaughter, Abby Joy Christensen.

A funeral service will be held at l0:00 am on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, 700 North Sheridan Road, with a reception to follow. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery.

Memorials would be welcomed by LSSI Prisoner and Family Ministry, 1001 E.Touhy Ave. #50, Des Plaines, IL 60018.
