Juan P. Boudet, Jr., MD

Juan P. Boudet, Jr. (Bebo), physician, father, grandfather, great grandfather and devoted husband passed away June 16, 2017.

He was a prominent doctor in Orlando from the 1960s through the 1990s when he retired as the “City Doc” (Bureau Chief of the Occupational Medical Unit) for the City of Orlando. His roots in the area date back to 1948 when he interned at Orange Memorial Hospital (Orlando Health.)

He was born March 17, 1921 in Camaguey, Cuba, the son of a doctor. Juan was a graduate of the University of Havana and had also studied in Montreal, Canada.

In 1949, he joined his father's medical practice in Havana. In 1959 he was part of that first wave of professionals to flee Cuba after the revolution, moving to Chattanooga Tennessee, then settling in Orlando in 1964. He was a member of a small Cuban community in Central Florida.

His first practice in Orlando was on Hillcrest Ave. In the 1970s he served as Chief of Staff for Mercy Hospital.

Juan raised 5 children, Carmen Gomez, Maria de la Roza, Ana Forman, Lucy Boudet and John Boudet. He is survived by a sister Maria, his five children and their spouses, 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Carmen Lorenz Boudet. He touched thousands of lives and was truly known for his exceptional kindness and compassion.

If you knew him in his heyday, you know he greeted everyone with a warm “hello my friend!” Maybe he couldn’t remember their names but, in fact, everyone was his friend.

From the bank president to the groundskeepers, he genuinely cared about everyone, making time for the many people who sought his expertise or who crossed his path.

Dr. Boudet's family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs followed by a Funeral Mass at 2 p.m.
