Judith Elaine Rinker Hildebrand, 75, died peacefully at her home in Waynesboro, Va. on Friday July 28, 2017, with her family by her side. Born on January 1, 1942, at home in Basye, Va. She was the daughter of the late Minor and Eunice Rinker.



She is survived by two brothers and one sister, Alvin Rinker, Deane Rinker, Gloria Rupert and their spouses. Judith, also known as Judy, is lovingly remembered by three children, Debra Berberich, Richard Showman Hildebrand, Jr., Lisa Henkel and their spouses along with six grandchildren, Madeline, Hannah, Arthur, Luke, Buddy and Molly.



Judy graduated from Triplett ,High School in 1959. She achieved her nursing degree from Madison College in Harrisonburg, Va. as a diploma nurse. She met and then married the love of her life, Richard Showman Hildebrand, Sr. on April 6, 1963. Judy and Richard lived in Massachusetts, Mississippi, Colorado and Virginia Beach before settling at their home in Ruckersville, Va. to raise their family. They later moved to Charlottesville, Va., where they lived until Richard’s death in 2013. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary shortly before his death. Judy worked in many areas of the healthcare field, notably at Martha Jefferson Hospital for 10 years providing care to the sick and support for their families. She retired from nursing in 2002 and continued to volunteer at UVA Medical Center until 2012. Judy went with her husband to Florida for the winter months. Judy was a loving and caring daughter, wife and mother. Her smile was infectious. She had many hobbies, of those her favorite was making seashell flower arrangements. She loved adventure and traveled the world with her husband and daughters.



A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 12 p.m. at Judy’s hometown church, Saint Mary’s Pine Lutheran Church in Mt. Jackson, Va., with burial to follow at Mt. Jackson Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
