Julian Strauss, 70, of Wyndmoor died peacefully March 12. Julian grew up in the Los Angeles area. He earned his undergraduate degree at UCLA and his master’s in computer science from Purdue University. A lifelong software engineer, he met his wife Maryellen (nee Danik) while they were working at Bell Labs in Holmdel, N.J. They married in 1977. Julian had an expansive musical taste, with The Carpenters and Chaka Khan among his favorite artists. His passions included skiing (in his younger years), gardening, tinkering with electronic gadgets, watching his favorite sports teams, and being the best husband and father he could be. Julian is survived by his beloved wife Maryellen; brother Fred (Lisa); sister Rosalie (Paul Schenck); children Joshua, Jordan (Andrea), Samara (Jason Garber), and Aaron; mother-in-law Betty Danik; and grandchildren Noah and Molly. He is predeceased by his father Alfred and mother Bernice (nee Haas). Visitation will be held Friday, March 16, 7-9 p.m., and Saturday, March 17, 10-11 a.m. followed immediately by funeral service, at William R. May Funeral Home, 354 N. Easton Road, Glenside. Interment will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler. Donations in Julian’s name may be made to Fox Chase Cancer Center 333 Cottman Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19111 would be appreciated.
