JUNIOR McCOY "COY" BARR

Junior McCoy "Coy" Barr, 79, of Sophia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born February 15, 1932 at Hot Coal; he was a son of the late LeRoy Barr and the late Mary Belle Barr Jarrell.
"Coy" loved hunting, fishing, gardening, but most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a coal miner for 36 years, an active member of the Sophia Freewill Baptist Church, and was a former councilman for the Town of Sophia. Mr. Barr served in the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia "Toots" McComas and a niece, Vicki.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 54 years, Illene Basham Barr; a son, Scott R. Barr and wife, Cathy of Crab Orchard; three daughters, Christi A. Jarrett and husband, James of Mooresville, NC, Lisa D. Tipton and husband, Bobby of Daniels, and Mary C. Robinson and husband, Douglas of Sophia; 9 grandchildren, Eric, Amanda, Jonathan, Zachary G., Amy, Zachary R., Sara, Taylor, and Nicholas; 4 great-grandchildren, Alex, Anna-Marie, Iziah, and Madelynn; sister, Shirley Manning of Sissonville; several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends also survive.
Services will be held 7:00PM Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Sophia Freewill Baptist Church, with Pastor Bobby Carter assisted by Rev. George Smith and Rev. Al Whitt. Entombment will follow 11:00AM Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Chapel of Hope, Beckley.
Friends may gather with the family from 5:00PM until 7:00PM Wednesday at the church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Raleigh General Hospital 4 North Staff, the staff of Hospice of Southern WV, Doctor's Billy Cole and J. Karam.
