Karen Baxter Dye
January 5, 1957 -- October 20, 2017

Born in Durango, Colorado during a snow storm, Karen grew up both on, or near, the Navajo Nation in the Four Corners area of New Mexico. After graduating from Shiprock High School, she attended San Juan College in Farmington and New Mexico State University in Las Cruses. Karen then went on to graduate from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro, with her degree in Chemistry.

During the early years of a long and successful career, Karen started out as a Fuel and Water Analyst at the San Juan Power Plant, in New Mexico. Over time, Karen worked for a number of companies including AMAX -- American Mining Company Tucson, AT&T and Gould.

For the past 23 years, Karen was happily employed at Medtronic Tempe, as Principal Quality Analysis Engineer. Most recently, Karen was nominated by both her peers & company leadership for the Medtronic Performance, Excellence and Vision Award. She was selected as the recipient of that award, for 2017.

Karen is survived by her son Jeffrey Dye, his father Pat Dye, her parents Bill and Inga Baxter and her brother Kirk. Sadly, Karen's younger sister Kendra, died in 2001.

A Celebration of Life for Karen will be held on Saturday, November 18th, at Melcher Mortuary Mission Chapel, 6625 E. Main Street, Mesa, AZ, 85205, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m, with a reception that will follow, onsite.
