Ms. Karen Ruth Edwards, 69, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, following a period of declining health.
Karen was born December 22, 1950, on the island of Guam at the naval base to her late father, Bernard "Bernie" Edwards and mother, Mary St. John Galbreath. She worked at Oscar Myer in Chicago for thirteen years, and moved to North Carolina in 1993. Karen retired from Saft America in Valdese in 2015 after thirteen years of service. She enjoyed her time with growing beautiful flowers and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved step-son, Aaron Webb.
Survivors include her wife, Bonnie Thomas; sister, Donna Wallace; brother, Stephen St. John; step-son Jason Thomas; step-daughter, Stephanie Webb; niece, Kandi Fowler of Chicago; and nephew, Chad Fowler of Chicago. Also surviving are six grandchildren and numerous great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Rev. Melissa Wike officiating.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service.
