Karl Pedersen, 76, of Dunedin passed away June 18, 2017 with his loving daughters by his side. Karl was born in Washington, DC on March 12, 1941 to Norman Pedersen and Clara Elizabeth Doe Pedersen. Karl moved to Florida in his teens and never looked back. Karl served in the United States Coast Guard enlisting in January 1959 and discharging from the reserves in October 1966 with a rank of AE3. While in the Coast Guard Reserves Karl worked part time for the Clearwater Fire Department and at Sears Roebuck & Co where he met the love of his life, Linda Jane Carlson, who become Linda Pedersen in 1968. In 1965 he graduated from the second academy class for the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office where he would serve for 38 years retiring as Sergeant of Criminal Investigations Division. Karl is preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda, and parents Norman Pedersen & Elizabeth Mitchell. Karl was a soft spoken man who could get his point across in few words and was respected by all who met him. After retirement Karl spent his days on the back porch of his dream home overlooking Hurricane Pass in Dunedin. Karl is survived by his loving daughters, Sharon Pedersen, Karla Pedersen and grandson Johnathon Clark, as well as, brothers Mark Mitchell (Valerie), Walter Mitchell, Mary Mitchell Delie (Jeff), Alice Mitchell Hufford (Rick), sister-in-law Judy Bessette and many nieces and nephews.



Known to all as KP he will be remembered for his quote, “could be a clue”. Visitation will be held Thursday June 29 from 5 - 7 PM at Sylvan Abbey United Methodist Church 2817 Sunset Point Road with graveside service will be held Friday June 30 at 11AM. A Celebration of Life to be held at a future date.
