Karl Stephen Goodman, age 77, beloved brother and friend to so many, died September 10, 2017 after a long illness. A lifelong resident of Albemarle County and Charlottesville, he was born in Crozet, Virginia on July 20, 1940, the son of Katie Sandridge Goodman Wright and James Harry Goodman. He was a graduate of the Miller School of Albemarle and a lifetime member of the Alumni Association. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War. He was a retired employee of the University of Virginia, working 38 years in numerous managerial positions in food service. Included among these positions wa Manager of the Hospital Snack Bar, and Concessions Manager for the UVA Athletic Department, which included all home games for the football, basketball, and baseball games. He was a loyal, lifelong supporter and fan of the Virginia Cavaliers and ACC Basketball. He enjoyed traveling and reading. He had a great love of history.



Steve was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest brother, Phillip Donald Goodman, his nephews Kevin Scott Goodman and Kyle Stuart Goodman. He is survived by his brother, William Roger Goodman and his wife Nancy of Earlysville; his sister, Sandra Goodman Short and her husband Jim of Fort Worth, Texas; sister-in-law, Evelyn Goodman of Earlysville, Virginia; nephew Jon Goodman and his wife Larisa of Newnam, Georgia; and numerous great nephews, nieces, and cousins.



According to his wishes, Steve will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, friends may give donations to The Miller School of the Albemarle, Development Department, 1000 Samuel Miller Loop, Charlottesville, Virginia 22903 in his memory. A gathering for family and friends to celebrate Steve's life will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville.
