Karla Kay (Hurst) Bartholomy, 64, of Perrysburg, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017. She was born the daughter of Earl and Violet Ruth (Hufford) Hurst on March 9, 1952 in Fremont, Ohio. Karla attended the University of Toledo where she earned her Bachelor's degree in education, and did her graduate studies. She met her husband Mark Bartholomy in 1978 while working as a program coordinator at the NW Ohio Development Center, and they married on September 29, 1979.

Karla was a very talented musician, and was well rounded with stringed instruments, which was a gift she enjoyed sharing with others. Known as "Mrs. B", she loved to teach music to the children at St. Benedict Catholic School (Little Flower), and is best described as a mother hen to her students. She also gave private guitar lessons, freelanced as a cello player in many symphonies in NW Ohio and SE Michigan, and was the founding member of the Paragon String Quartet, providing music to many weddings in the area. Karla's talents didn't stop with her music. She was skilled in all things creative, and would create clothing and costumes for her shows and her family, and was known to be a very good baker. She had a big heart, was devoted to her family, her students, and her music, and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Surviving is her husband, Mark Bartholomy, of Perrysburg, OH, sister, Gail (Floyd) Trawick of Conroe, TX, Daun (Dan) Diedrich of Fremont, OH, dozens of nieces and nephews, and her canine companion, Nicky.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
