47 of Jackson went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Henry Ford Allegiance Health. Karla was the daughter of Gerald and Audrey (Elenbaas) Gumm born on April 28, 1970 in Cadillac, MI. She is survived by her loving husband, Edward, of 19 years; two children, Benjamin Ernest Reid and Lauren Rachel Reid; her mother, Audrey Gumm; two brothers, Daniel (Jamie) Gumm and Joel Gumm; numerous nieces and nephews; and father-in-law, Edward (Judy) Reid. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Gumm and mother-in-law, Mildred Gokee. Karla graduated from McBain High School and received her Bachelor's degree from Grand Valley State University and her teaching certificate from Western Michigan University, and her Master's degree from Marygrove College. She taught in the public schools for 21 years with the majority of her tenure at Onsted Community Schools. Karla is a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She was a member of the Half-Fanatics Running Club and the American Heritage Girls. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, running and camping. Her children were the major focus of her life. There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 12:00 PM at the First Church of the Nazarene, 3905 Clinton Road, Jackson, MI, Pastor Bryce Gernand officiating, interment at Mount View Cemetery in McBain, MI in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her children for their college fund.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson, and from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the First Church of the Nazarene.
