Katherine Rita Baehr Montegut was born on August 29, 1924 to Katherine Eugenie Haas Baehr and Frederick Jacob Baehr, Sr. in New Orleans, LA. Katherine lost her hearing and became deaf early in childhood. She was an excellent lip reader and eventually learned sign. This was important because Katherine was someone who loved to talk with hearing and deaf people.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brother Frederick (Fred) Jacob Baehr, Jr. She is survived by her children John Frederick Montegut (Kim) and Elizabeth Ann Montegut Dupont (Randolph) and her grandson Randolph (Randon) Montegut Dupont whom she adored. Katherine is also survived by Fred’s wife Edith Sweeney Baehr; Fred’s children Frederick (Fritz) Jacob Baehr, III, Ellen Baehr Noble (Dan), Katherine Baehr Wood (Bob) and Fred’s eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Fritz’s wife, Michelle, passed several years ago.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Metairie Healthcare who cared so lovingly for her.
