Kathleen Ann Salinas Galendez passed away at the age of 25 on April 1st, 2017 in Sedona, AZ, but will always be remembered for her infectious laugh and smile. Always caring and compassionate, friends and family would also remember the warmth and joy she brought to everyone around her.
Born on April 29th, 1991, in San Diego, CA, Kathleen was the only child of Rowena and Arni Gene Galendez. She grew up in Paradise Hills where she was helped raised by her older cousins, aunts and uncles, and especially her grandparents, Providencia and Alejandro Salinas, who she loved dearly. She attended Westview High School before attending San Diego State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition. While there, Kathleen spent her spare time with volunteer work and served as President of the school's Student Nutrition Organization.
Combining her passion for food and helping others, Kathleen then pursued a career as a Registered Dietician. Going through all the requirements, she completed her accredited internship through Cedar Crest College in Pennsylvania, then earned her certification from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She recently spent the past 3 years working as an RD at San Diego Post-Acute, where she was beloved by both her colleagues and patients for her motivating work-ethic.
Kathleen loved to travel and explore new places, always in search of new food to try out and new sights to take in. She was always on the move, even as a kid, taking road trips with her family and as she got older, traveling to different cities with her friends and her boyfriend, Josh. Kathleen was especially fond of New York City and what it had to offer, which she visited often, and was just as fond of Paris, France, where she spent a summer studying abroad while in college.
She is survived by her parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
We all love and miss you, Kathleen. May you Rest In Peace.
