Kathryn Barnwell Gentry, 49, began a new journey on Monday, May 8, 2017. A journey where Kaye can employ her attributes and ambitions, where she can laugh, sing and love as much and as often as she chooses. Kaye can continue to share her enthusiasm and "Love of Life" in her new home. She will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity to anyone and anything that needed her strength, her beauty and unwavering loyalty.
Kaye attended Cartersville City Schools from Miss Mary Lou's kindergarten through her junior year of high school. Her family moved to Orange Beach, AL and she graduated from Foley High School. She attended Young Harris College and graduated from Auburn University receiving a degree in education. She then received her Master's Degree from Jacksonville State. Kaye worked for Tulane University before returning to her hometown of Cartersville, GA. Kaye spent the next 15 years at Emerson Elementary, working with a staff and students that she dearly loved.
Kaye is preceded in death by her grandparents, Jack and Daisy Gaines of Cartersville and Jim and Carolyn Barnwell of Florence, AL.
Kaye is survived by her daughter Carolyn, who was the light of her life; her parents: Frances Gaines Martin and Dr. Carol Martin of Cartersville, GA. and James and Lyndi Barnwell of Unadilla, GA. Her brothers, Bob Barnwell (Kay) of Alabama and Stewart Barnwell (Julie) of Roswell GA. ; sister Taylor Horton (Micah) of Nashville, TN.; stepsister, Lori Cobb (Darrel) of Mableton, GA. and stepbrother Michael Martin (Stephanie) of Dallas, TX.
Kaye will be missed by her many friends, especially Kari Hodge, Abby North, Carrie Caswell, Misty Myrick and Peyton Dellaporta.
