Kay Mowry, 82, of Kansas City, MO passed away October 22, 2017. She was born in Marshfield, MO on August 13, 1935 to parents Joseph and Florence Hine.



Kay graduated from Southwest Missouri State in 1953 with a Bachelors of Arts degree. She met her husband Gary while she was the Assistant Debate Coach at KU and they were married in 1958. She was on national television clog dancing with the Promenaders on Red Foley’s Ozark Jubilee. Kay became a high school debate coach at Oak Park High School and touch many lives encouraging her student to have the confidence to pursue their dreams, from local news anchors to Federal Judges, all were inspired. She also started the first in school radio station and television broadcasting classes in the state of Missouri.



Kay is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Gary, sons Cole Mowry (Caralyn), Brant Mowry and Kyle Mowry; grandchildren Christopher and Adara, and her sister Linda Goodlett. A Life Celebration will be held Saturday, October 28 at Riverstone Retirement Community from 11am-1pm.
