COLUMBIA, SC - Kay Trusell Shockley, 86, formerly of Savannah, GA, passed away at her residence at Still Hopes in Columbia on July 24, 2017. Born in Bellwood, PA, Kay lived most of her childhood in Wilmington, DE where she attended Pierre S. DuPont High School. After graduating from Sullins College in Bristol, VA, she returned to Wilmington working at the DuPont company headquarters as an administrative assistant to the president. She married her high school sweetheart Bill and became a full time homemaker; living in Circleville, OH, Richmond, VA and Tokyo, Japan before they retired in Savannah, GA. Kay was a devoted member of Skidaway Island United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, volunteering, visiting with family and friends, and cherished the annual family reunions at Litchfield Beach. Kay had an incredible spirit and love that was easy to see and attracted many friends. Modest to a fault, her gracious nature was often displayed through her kindness and thoughtfulness towards others. Kay’s quick wit and sense of humor kept us smiling even in her final days. The family is comforted knowing she is at peace with our Lord.

Kay is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years H. William (Bill) Shockley, parents, Edna and Paul Trusell and sister, Louise Britton. Surviving are her son, Scott Shockley (Kelly); daughters, Suzanne Fielden (Joe), Lisa Shockley (Woody Reeves); her adoring grandchildren, Perri Shockley, Braden Shockley, Sean Reeves and Kyle Reeves; special brother-in-law, E. Allan Britton; and nieces and nephews.

Special thanks are extended to Dr. Rodney Rhinehart and all of Kay’s compassionate caregivers. Messages to the family may be posted online at www.dunbarfunerals.com.
