Keith A. Painter, 88, of Cross Lanes, WV passed away November 18, 2016 at his home surrounded by family and a few close friends following a long illness.

He was born in Given, WV, a son of the late Cloyd A. Painter and Marie Parsons Painter. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served in the Korean War. He was a proud member of American Legion Post 0094, 40th Infantry Division Korean War and VFW He was an electrician and retired from Union Carbide.

He spent much of his time outdoors where he loved to hunt. He found great pleasure in sitting in his chair out back to watch his bird houses and other wildlife. He especially loved going back to Given to his home place which is referred to by many as “the farm”.

Keith is survived by his two sons, Jay (Pam) and John (Terri) both of Cross Lanes; three grandchildren, Dustin, Kendra and Kolton Painter; and one great grandchild, Sophia Savilla-Painter. He is survived by one sister, Betty Jo Hanna of Charleston.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Rosa Lee “Rosie” Painter and his sister, Ruth Duncan.

Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes, WV with Pastor Brian Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens with military rites by St. Albans VFW.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
