Kenneth O. Kingsley, 83, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 7:20 a.m. on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at his home. He was born May 22, 1929 in Madison, a son of the late Otis and Sleeta Pearl (Moody) Kingsley. He married Patricia J. (Garland) Kingsley on February 20, 1951 in San Diego, California and she survives. He began his 40 year career with the Railroad with Nickel Plate and retired as a switchman with Norfolk and Western in 1985. He proudly served his country with the United States Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Cedar View Baptist Church in Pontoon Beach and enjoyed his days of hunting, fishing, cooking, gardening and tending to his yard. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife of over 60 years, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Leo Sprankle of Collinsville and Kathy and Bob Strack of Donnellson; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin G. and Deborah Kingsley of Granite City; four grandchildren and their spouses, Bryan and Fran Sprankle of Virginia, Jennifer Creonte of Collinsville, Angela and Danny Riggs of East Alton and Nicholas Strack of Donnellson; five great-grandchildren, Kaela, Connor, Adam, Claire and Nathan; one sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Stanley Manning of Ohio; sister-in-law, Shirley Kingsley of Granite City; numerous nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to his beloved parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Billy Kingsley. In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Phil Warren officiating. Burial with military honors will be at St. John Cemetery on Nameoki Road in Granite City. Memorials may be made to Cedar View Baptist Church in Granite City and may be accepted at the funeral home.
