LaVerna Deke, 95 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at the Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia, Missouri.

Born Thursday, January 4, 1923 in Emma, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late William Heermann and the late Agnes Oerding Heermann.

She married Harold J. Deke on March 28, 1945 and he survives of the home. She lived most of her life in Higginsville and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She worked as a seamstress at the Higginsville Garment Factory, retiring in 1982.

She is survived by her husband Harold J. Deke, two nieces, Betty (Jim) Schlichting of Oak Grove, MO and Debbie Reed of Warsaw, MO; one nephew-in-law Stan Palmer of Concordia, MO; several great nephews and great nieces..

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Elroy Heermann and Wilford Heermann; one niece, Vicky Palmer.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Junkin officiating and Donna Owens organist. Interment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at the church. The family suggest memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Casket bearers are Mike Schlichting, Randy McClain, Adam Dohrman, Eric Giffen, Mark Nuelle and Scott Schreiman. Honorary bearers are Tim Schlichting, Jesse Palmer and Daniel Palmer.
