Mr. Lawrence Eugene Collins, 80, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at his residence, surrounded by his caring family that loved him deeply.
Lawrence was born on March 31, 1934 in Catawba County to the late Lloyd Collins and Carrie Deal Collins. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was retired from the hosiery industry, where he worked as a fixer for many years. Lawrence was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Eugene Collins, brother, Herman Collins, stepbrother, Robert Collins and a stepsister, Alice Watson.
Surviving is his loving wife, Pauline Helton Collins of the home, his children, Larry Wayne Collins and wife Colleen, Judy Southerland and husband Jimmy, and James Michael Collins, all of Connelly Springs, a sister, Fannie Yoder, two stepsisters, Ellen Kral and Barbara Brown and one stepbrother, Earl Collins. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Crystal Gayle Lail, Christopher Allen Collins, Taylor Collins, Stephanie York, and Matthew Bridges, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 31 at 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Brad Harmon officiating. A private interment will follow on Wednesday at Burke Memorial Park with military honors provided by the U. S. Air Force.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 5:30 until 7:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
