Lena Jean (Marx) Worrell, 82, of Dripping Springs, Texas, passed away on April 24, 2017, in Austin, Texas.

Lena was born in the Cedar Valley area of Travis County, Texas to parents Emil Marx and Hellen (Rutter) Marx on December 23, 1934, and was a sibling to seven brothers and three sisters. She attended and graduated Austin High School in Austin, Texas, in 1953. Lena married her childhood sweetheart Roland Worrell on October 15, 1954, in Travis County, Texas and resided in both Travis and Hays Counties all her life. Lena worked for the Austin Independent School District as an attendance and front-desk clerk for twenty-seven years until her retirement in 1999.

Lena became a Christian during her teenage years and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Oak Hill. She taught Children's Sunday School for many years, as well as Vacation Bible School.

Lena Worrell is preceded in death by her parents, five elder brothers and two sons, Roland "Rusty" Worrell and Jeffrey W. Worrell.

Lena is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Roland Worrell. She is also survived by her daughter, Janice H. Oliver and husband, Darral Oliver of Dripping Springs, Texas, and son, Jerry H. Worrell and wife, Linda Worrell of Farmington, NM, along with grandchildren, Jonathan Jones, Jeremy Worrell, Amanda Oliver, Amber Oliver, Sabrina Lancaster, Heather Worrell and one great-granddaughter, Sydney Jones. She is also survived by her siblings, Willie Mae Hector, Bud Marx, Leona Anderson, Lester Marx, Emma Lee Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Friday, April 28, 2017, in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, with Pastor Rob Satterfield of First Baptist Church of Oak Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.

Honoring Lena as pallbearers will be Wiley Marx, Bentley Tyler, Keith Worrell, Wendell Johnson, Jonathan Jones, Jeremy Worrell, Brian Jones, and Steve Hynds.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of St. David's South Austin Hospital for their compassion and gentle care of Lena during her final days.
