Lenore Reinhard passed away on September 14, 2016. She was born on Nov. 7, 1932, in Borough Park, Brooklyn, New York, to Charles and Lillian Bluthe, and grew up in Brooklyn. After graduation from high school, she attended CCNY. Around that time she reconnected with the son of family friends, Arnold Reinhard and they were subsequently married on May 2, 1954. They made their first home in Schenectady, NY, where her husband worked in his father's bicycle shop and she was a secretary with General Electric, working on a top secret nuclear submarine program. In addition to her husband's siblings in Schenectady, the Reinhards built a family of their own with the birth of their children Ken, Ellin and Steve.
The family moved to Middletown, NY in 1970, where she worked as a teaching assistant in the public schools. In 1977, after being tired of the cold winters in New York and an opportunity for advancement in Arnold's career, Lenore and the family moved to Greensboro, NC Although there was a bit of "culture shock," Lenore quickly became a Southern girl. She embraced living in the South, and called North Carolina home from that point forward. While living in her adopted home of Greensboro, she was actively involved with Beth David Synagogue. She spent many years as a volunteer, and her special love was managing Beth David's weekly Bingo game. She also worked as a teaching assistant for the Guilford County School System, using her talents to work with special needs children. Upon her husband's retirement, they owned and operated VoiceTel, the first outsourced, voice messaging franchise in the country. Lenore enjoyed working, but she loved her grandchildren and the time she could spend with them. She loved to travel, celebrate joyous occasions with her friends and family (where she usually got the dancing started with Jack Daniels in her hand), and the Tar Heels with a white hot passion.
She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Lillian Bluthe, her sister Helene B. Spevack, her husband Arnold Reinhard, and her daughter Ellin R. Schott. She is survived by her children, Ken Reinhard (Kathy) of Fort Worth, TX, Steve Reinhard (Susan), of Raleigh, NC, her former son-in-law Mike Schott of Clark, CO, and her five grandchildren: Laura Reinhard, Sam Reinhard, Jessica Reinhard, Hunter Brown and Jacob Schott.
Special thanks from the family are extended to the staff at Holden Heights assisted living in Greensboro, NC, The Covington in Raleigh, NC, and the staff of Liberty Hospice in Raleigh, NC, for ensuring the last months of her life was comfortable and fulfilling.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday at 1 pm at the Greensboro Hebrew Cemetery in Greensboro, NC (corner of Vanstory Road and Gate City Boulevard).
