Preceded in death by his loving wife, Hope; parents, Leopoldo and Concepcion Diaz; sisters, Sophie McIlwain, Elaine Cruz and Vera Apodaca; and brothers, Joaquin, Manuel and Luther; and daughter-in-law, Veronica Diaz. Leo was a kind father with a funny sense of humor who loved family gatherings, listening to music and dancing with his wife. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a signal man (Seaman 3rd Class) in the Pacific Theater and received the Asiatic Pacific 4-Star Medal and the American Area Victory Ribbon. Leo retired from Kinney Shoe Stores in 1987, and then became a Master Gardener.
