Leona Bobrzecki Borner, age 91, passed away on August 21, 2017. She was born on June 1, 1926 in Chicago, IL to her parents Louise Lukasik Bobrzecki and Stanley Bobrzecki. She has been a resident of River Ridge, LA since 1971. Leona was the loving wife of Richard James Borner, they were married on July 4, 1951, and they shared 64 years of marriage together until Richard’s passing. She was the caring mother of Bruce Joseph Borner (Amanda) of Plano, TX and the late Mark Richard Borner (Susan) of Kenner, LA. Grandmother of Jennifer Ruppel (Philip), John Borner, Katherine Borner, Christine Borner and great-grandmother of James Ruppel.



Leona was the valedictorian at Tuley High School in 1944. She also received a BA degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a MLS degree from Louisiana State University. She was also a member of Mensa. Leona retired from Jefferson Parish Library as branch manager in 1992, and she continued to volunteer at St. Matthew the Apostle School library for a few years following her retirement. Leona was a member and past president of the East Jefferson Newcomers Club. She enjoyed reading, playing social bridge and traveling near & far. She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her.





Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
