Leona M. Schwarzmann, wife of Robert H. Schwarzmann, local business owner, community volunteer, Navy veteran and wife of 63 years, died on Wednesday, Aug 23rd. She was 85.

She was born January 4th, 1932 to James and Mildred Dolphin of Cascade, Iowa. Leona joined the US Navy, Co. 51 "The Waves" in 1952, leaving behind a heartbroken suitor. She traveled throughout the world during her time in the Navy, gaining valuable experiences among the many peoples she encountered.

During the fall of 1953, Leona and Robert renewed their romance and were married June 19th, 1954 at St. James Catholic Church in Falls Church, VA.

Shortly after her marriage she left the Navy, and in 1959 Robert and Leona co-founded A&R Tool and Equipment Rentals. Starting with $1,000 borrowed from a country banker and one chainsaw, they struggled together for many years facing many hardships to build a thriving business together. Despite the many difficulties and setbacks, Leona always gave time and energy to help her family, neighbors, and community. Volunteering at both St. James's and St. John's churches, as well as with the Meals on Wheels, her charitable nature was felt by everyone around her.

Throughout the years spent running a successful business, raising three children, and contributing to the community, Leona and Bob made the time to share their passion of travel together, visiting locations around the globe regularly.

She is survived by her husband Robert; her daughter Robyn (Ron) McIninch, sons Bryce
Schwarzmann and Perry Schwarzmann; grandchildren Aaron McIninch, Robert "Rob" Schwarzmann
and Jonathan (Emily) Schwarzmann; two great-granddaughters Ileyana and Maelin; her sister Rosie Holmes and brother Carl (Nancy) Dolphin.
