Leonard Bradley "Bud" Goodman, 76, of Rutherford College, passed away on Tuesday April 10, 2018 at Catawba Regional Hospice following a period of declining health.
Bud was born on July 30, 1941 in Wilkes County to the late Don Bradley Goodman and Clyde Morton Goodman. Bud was a member of Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church in Rutherford College. He served in the NC Army National Guard as a 1st Lieutenant after graduating from Appalachian State University. He was a banker for 34 years, starting with Northwestern Bank and retiring with BB&T. Bud loved spending time at his mountain cabin, hunting and farming on his tractor.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant triplet siblings and his brother Timothy Goodman.
Bud is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nelda Bowman Goodman; and two daughters, Kim (Darran) Rayfield of Aiken, SC and Jenifer (Andy) Byers of Valdese; and three grandchildren, Lauren Victoria Rayfield of Columbia, SC; Tucker Bradley Rayfield of Aiken, SC; and Sophie Jane Byers of Valdese. Also surviving are his sister, Lynda (Tony) Davis; and his brother Ben (Randy Warrum) Goodman; and two nephews, Bryan (Allida) White and Kevin (Shelley) White.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday April 14, 2018 at Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church, with Rev. April Abernethy and Rev. Gary Jennings officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church Columbarium Fund, P.O. Box 127 Rutherford College, NC 28671.
