Lera (Martindale) Warren was born in Jasper, Texas on Sunday, December 23, 1917 to parents Charles and Nannie (Durbin) Martindale. She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior at 8.24 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the age of 99.

Lera grew up in Jasper and moved to Houston about 1940, where she met Walter E. Warren. They were married on June 21, 1941 and blessed with 70 wonderful years together until Walter's death in October 2011. Both Lera and Walter found and settled in at Berean Baptist Church, giving their lives to the Lord and spending the rest of their lives worshipping and working for the Lord.

Both Lera and Walter raised their family in church, Sunday to Sunday, never letting anything stand between them and the Lord. Family and God were of utmost importance and today still lives on in their children.

Lera spent her entire life glorifying the Lord with her compassion, character and faithfulness. She assisted in starting several Baptist churches locally, teaching Sunday School, singing in the Choir and assisting in church fellowships. She and her sister enjoyed visiting the sick and witnessing to the lost, weekly.

What a joy it would be if more Christians walked as she has walked during her life here on Earth.

Heaven today truly rejoices, for a faithful saint has come home.

We believe it would be Lera's greatest desire, that one day she might see each of you standing beside her at the great heavenly gathering, to sing and rejoice for evermore.

Lera is survived by her loving sister, Sybil Potter and a brother, Thomas Martindale; her beloved daughters, Shirley Bryant, Sandy Nichols and husband Bill, Jeannie Reese and husband Bob; her adored grandchildren: James Embry, David Embry, Jason Reese, Melinda Kraft, Wesley Nichols, Nichole McHaney, Jenna Sparks and Jamie Reese; as well as her beautiful great grandchildren: Joshua Embry, Bella Kraft, Tory Kraft, Jordan Embry, Hailey Reese, Gracelyn Nichols, Jenna Embry, Brock Nichols, Madeline Reese, 'Baby' Sparks.

Family and friends will gather during a visitation at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017 in the sanctuary of Northwest Baptist Church, 1710 W. 34th St. in Houston, 77018, where funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Lester Hutson officiating. Graveside services and interment will conclude at 2:00 p.m. in section 411 of Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer, also in Houston, 77077.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers is James Embry, David Embry, Jason Reese, Wesley Nichols, Joshua Embry, Thomas Minshew and Henry Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony Salvaggio and Brock Nichols.
