Les Mitchell peacefully passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, ID after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loved ones. Les was born on October 15, 1951 in Cheyenne, WY to Leslie Mitchell & Colleen Ward Mitchell. He was raised in Pocatello, ID. He later moved to Eugene, OR to go to college at the University of Oregon where he received his Bachelor of Architecture in 1976. While in college he met the love of his life, his wife Lyndee Hoke which he married on June 22, 1973 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pocatello, ID. Upon graduation they moved back to Pocatello, ID where he worked with his father at their families business Mitchell Construction Co., and later he started his own business Continental Cabinet. There were many projects in Idaho that he and his family were proud to have built such as the Idaho State University Mini Dome and the Sun Valley Lodge just to name a few. In 1977 they had a daughter Carmen Mitchell and in 1982 their son Joshua Mitchell was born. They have resided in Boise, ID where he initially worked for CSHQA Architects and was responsible for several jobs such as the remodeling of Albertson's and the Boise Airport. For the past 10 years however he has worked for Mountain Home Air Force Base as their Project Manager for the 366th Civil Engineering Department. Even though he was not military he felt this was how he could best serve our great country. He took great pride in his work, was honored to be given his responsibilities and he never wanted to miss a day of work. He was very proud and humbled to work with such a great group of individuals. In 2006 his granddaughter Taylor Lunstrum was born, and in 2011 his granddaughter Ella was born. They held a special place in his heart. Les enjoyed hunting, fishing, painting, drawing, telling jokes, admiring all forms of art, learning about history and science, listening to good music, but most of all spending time with his loving wife, children, grandchildren, family and good friends. He was a very well respected man who had a warm heart and a contagious laugh. He was loved and appreciated by many and will be missed dearly.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and sister, Leslie Mitchell, Colleen Mitchell and Linda Jean Mitchell. He is survived by his wife Lyndee Mitchell, daughter Carmen Lunstrum (Ben), son Joshua Mitchell, granddaughters Taylor and Ella Lunstrum, sister Karen Stewart (Terry), brother-in-law Michael Hoke (Vonnie), nephews Mathew Hoke, Christopher Stewart and Tyler Stewart, niece Kaitlyn Hoke, and great niece Dana Stewart.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 3, 2015 at 2 pm at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 Cloverdale Rd., Boise, ID 83713.
