Lester was raised on a small farm in DeWitt County in central Illinois. He attended a one room school house through the 8th grade. He was also a High School Graduate and then took Correspondence Courses through DeVry.
When Lester was 21 years old he left the farm to work at Zenith Radio in downtown Chicago, which he got through DeVry.
While working there, Lester enjoyed going to dance halls in his spare time. He loved to dance, especially the polka. He met his future wife, Agnes, at the Trianon Dance Hall. They were married February 18, 1950 and settled in South Holland, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.
Lester later worked for Ford Motor Company in Chicago Heights Illinois and was employed there for 21 years. In 1977, at age 56, Lester took early retirement. That same year, Lester and family moved from South Holland, Illinois to Orlando, Florida. Lester worked as a cashier at Sea World for ten years before once again retiring.
Lester was a devout Catholic with a deep faith. He was always an usher at church. Lester was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and he was a Fourth Degree Knight.
Lester and Agnes enjoyed going out to dinner and visiting with friends after church each week.
Lester's Dad, John Thomas Miller, passed in 1969, his mother Bessie Lee Spencer Miller, passed in 1988, and his brother, Edwin passed in 1987.
Lester was widowed in 1994. He is survived by his daughter, Carol, son-in-law Donald, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Alyssa.
