Liane Elaine (Ward) Beauregard of Keene, NH, died after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease, on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at her daughter Linda?s home in Columbia, SC. She was 92.

She was born on March 22, 1924 in Fitchburg, MA, the daughter of Harry J. and Dorothy E. (Whitehouse) Ward. She attended multiple elementary, secondary and collegiate schools during extensive travels throughout her childhood.

In 1942 she married Frank Cavalliere and together they had 2 children, Lawrence and Dorothy. They divorced and Liane was re-married to Ernest Beauregard and together they raised their 4 children, Lawrence, Dorothy, Linda and Steven.

Liane worked as a waitress at the Bon Ton Restaurant in Keene; she then worked at the Swanzey Woolen Mill. Liane was the first female photo lab technician in the US; at the American Optical Lab, she dedicated herself to classified (at the time) projects including the development and creation of the main lenses of the Hubble Telescope.

She served on the board of the Monadnock Squares (square dancing group) and led some of the members on a performing tour at the New York World?s Fair.

A unique soul, Liane was also known as "Lee" or "Snookie" to her many friends, and was very sweet and funny. She enjoyed playing the "straight man" to her husband Ernest?s many practical jokes. She enjoyed singing in the St. James Episcopal Church choir, and was an avid photographer who developed her talents in a photography studio in her home. She will be greatly missed.

Liane is survived by 3 of her 4 children; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandsons. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest, and her son, Steven.

A private memorial service organized by Dunbar Funeral Home was held in Columbia, SC, and was attended by many friends and neighbors who met and loved her in the short time she lived in Columbia.
