Lila Margaret Ballard, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill.



She was born at Marting, WV, she was the daughter of the late Euel Milton and Virginia Murriel Butler Duncan.



Mrs. Ballard was a member of Gentry Missionary Baptist Church, graduated in 1945 from Montgomery High School, and attended Appalachian Bible College. She was a homemaker and loved to cook and bake. Mrs. Ballard was a former nursing assistant, a member of Cotton Hill Missionary Baptist Ladies’ Circle, and The ANGEL Group. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.



Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Russell Ballard; and three brothers: Jackie, Roy, and Ray Duncan.



Left to cherish many wonderful memories includes her three sons: James (Nora) Ballard, Randall (Brenda) Ballard, and Danny Ballard; three daughters: Brenda (Ed) Baumgartner, Lisa (Sonny) Milam, and Judy (Gene) Ellison; one adopted daughter: Ann (Jimmy) Simms; one sister: Doris Dunlap; one sister-in-law: Anna Duncan; six grandchildren: Cara, Adam, Amanda, Philip, Jacob, and Nick; four great-grandchildren: Madeline, Gavin, Kate, and Jackson.



Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Friday, March 3, 2017 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. Michael Parsons officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.



The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral on Friday at the funeral home.



Memorial donations may be made in Margaret’s memory to Gentry Baptist Church, Fayetteville First Church of God, or church of your choice.
