The Obituary Lillian Isabelle Cook was born on January 15, 1932, to the late Lillian and Edward Cook, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the oldest child born to this union blessed with five children. Lill was preceded in death by her only brother, Donald and sister, Dorothy Cook. Affectionately called "Izzy" by family and friends, she spent her early years growing up in the West Philadelphia area. She matriculated thru the Philadelphia Public School System, graduating from Overbrook High School. Lill confessed her hope in Christ and was baptized at St. Matthew AME Church under the pastorate of Reverend Ellis Washington, where she continued in fellowship until her health began to fail. Shortly after high school, she met and married the love of her life, Tellis "Ted" Jenkins. This union was blessed with eight children; Tellis "Butch", Jr., Danny, Wayde, who preceded her in death, Gary, Mark, Gigi, Pam and Joyce. The challenges of life would lead Ted and Lill to divorce and follow separate paths. But all roads lead home. In later years, Ted and Lill rekindled that flame of love and Lill faithfully cared for Ted until his passing on May 9, 2004 Lill was employed as a presser for various companies before retiring from A. Talone's Dry Cleaning Service, Inc. However, the job that would give her the greatest joy was that of mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a nurturer and constantly encouraged the children to make wise choices because your choices have consequences. She was a lover of life, full of wit, independent and self-confident. Very unexpectedly, after a brief hospitalization, Lill answered the call of our heavenly Father and entered her eternal rest on Saturday, February 28, 2015. Her memory will forever be cherished by her four loving sons; Tellis "Butch" (Nina), Danny, Gary (Linda), and Mark; three loving and devoted daughters, Gigi, Pam and Joyce; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Williams and Ann Cook; two special friends, Doris Quil and Audrey Talley; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends. Sorrowfully submitted, The Family
