BLYTHEWOOD - A funeral service for Lillie Belle Mattox Thigpen Loner, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Sandy Level Baptist Church, with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church Fellowship Hall. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Loner passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Born in Blythewood, she was a daughter of the late Henry James and Kate Kelly Mattox. She was the 9th of 10 children and the last surviving.
Lil was an active member in her church at St. Andrews Baptist Church in Columbia, then at Sandy Level Baptist Church in Blythewood. She shared her Christmon Tree Ministry with her churches, family, and friends. She had the unique ability of playing the piano by ear. Lil loved her flowers and bluebirds and she wrote a book about “Blue Boy.” She loved her family and was truly loved by many.
Surviving are her husband, Robert W. Loner, Sr.; children, Dianne Thigpen Walker (Tim), Ginger Thigpen Good (Tom), Otto Edward Thigpen, Jr., Gayle L. Boozer (Wade), Debbie L. Sloan (Thurmond), Keith Loner (Dawn), Robby Loner (Debbie), and Paulette L. Drafts (Danny). She is also survived by the loves and great joys of her life, 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Otto Edward Thigpen, Sr.
