Mrs. Lillie Mae Waites, age 89, of Douglasville, GA, passed away March 18, 2017. She was born February 22, 1928 in Miami, FL, the daughter of the late Henry and Narcissa Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Cullen Waites; son, Dr. Richard Cullen Waites; great-grandson, Jeffrey Michael Eubanks; and brother, A.W. Thompson.



She retired from General Motors in 1969. As a member of Douglasville First Baptist Church she began her new career of volunteerism. She worked in “The Clothes Closet,” “Bread Ministry,” and led WMU for many years. She taught lady’s Sunday School classes for 50 years. She delivered meals for “Meals on Wheels.” She was a “Pink Lady Volunteer” at Douglas Hospital for 30 years. During that time she was President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. She made this world a better place. She was loved by everyone she touched.



She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Mike Rogers; son, Ray Waites; granddaughter and husband, Amanda and Casey Eubanks, granddaughter, Dr. Jessica Rogers; granddaughter, Delaney Waites; great-grandson, Zachary Aaron Eubanks; and sister, Patsy Wallace.



Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 4:00 PM from the Rosehaven Chapel at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 PM.



Interment will follow in Rosehaven Memorial Park.
