Diane Black was born on June 26, 1940 and raised in Dallas, Texas. Her parents were Horace and Ruby Black. She graduated from W.W. Samuell High School in 1958. She received her B.S. in Recreation and Sociology from Texas Women's University. She later received her RN from El Centro College.

Growing up she was active in Girl Scouts where she enjoyed camping at Whispering Cedars and later served as camp nurse during the summer sessions. She also was troop leader for her niece's girl scout troop. Other activities included events at Pleasant Grove First Baptist Church where she was an active member for many years.

One of her fondest memories was taking an Amtrak train tour around the United States with her mother. During her later years, she enjoyed visiting with her friends on the bench outside her apartment in McKinney.

Diane transitioned from earth to Heaven on June 23, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Horace "Sonny" Black Jr. She is survived by her sister, Jan Little and husband Jim; nephews, Jeff Little, Joel Little and wife Mary Ann, and Jason Little; niece, Julie White and husband Bruce; grand-nieces, Jessica and Mallory Little and Kaitlyn White; grand-nephew, Cody Little; and a host of other relatives and friends.
