Lois Frances Swinson, 93, passed away on Friday April 14, 2017. She was born in Ralls, TX on July 25, 1923 to Roger and Chester Langston. Lois married her childhood sweetheart, Grover E. (Buddy) Swinson in 1939, and they enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage until his death in 1999. She remarried in 2005 to Gilbert A. Swinson (Andy) who passed away in 2009.
Lois began her education in Sidney School in Comanche County, and continued at Draughns Business College and the Texas Real Estate Institute. She worked at many office positions including 20 years as office manager at Zenith Cleaners, several years at Thornton's Department Store and spent many years as a self-employed Real Estate Broker. Her last employment was at Barnard's Antiques in downtown Abilene. Lois was a member of the American Business Women's Association (Ora Negra chapter) where she served in many capacities and was named "Woman of the Year" in 1971. She was also a member of the Abilene Garden Club, once again serving the organization in many positions. Lois was a charter member of the Abilene Quilter's Guild, an avid quilter who won many ribbons for her beautiful creations. She was a member of the "Thursday Quilters" who annually made quilts for the West Texas Rehabilitation Center.
Lois was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Jesse; four sisters, Josephine Langston, Elizabeth Donaldson, Dorothy Wilwant and Billie Bisbee. She is survived by her daughter, Frances Arnold and husband, Michael of Bishop, GA; two grandchildren, Brian Arnold and wife, Amber of Atlanta, GA and Jennifer Arnold of Atlanta, GA; and many much loved nieces and nephews.
