Lola Morales Torrez was called home to eternal rest on March 28, 2017. She was born on May 11, 1924 in Galveston, TX. Lola was the fourth child born to Mr. and Mrs. Fernando Morales Sr. She made Dallas, TX her home in 1934. Years later she met Jesse R. Torrez Sr. and the two were married on October 20, 1946.
Lola was a devoted wife and loving mother to six children. She was a strong Christian woman who made a living as a seamstress. She gave her time graciously to the Presbyterian Church for over 40 years. Lola joined the Presbyterian Church in 1958. She taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, served on various committees and was also an Elder. She was an active supporter of the Latin American Auxiliary.
Lola definitely knew her way in the kitchen and always had a home cooked meal prepared and ready to eat. Her legacy of cooking lives on today in her children and grandchildren. Her homemade tamales were always a big hit at Christmas time with her customers, friends and family.
Lola is preceded in death by her husband Jesse R. Torrez Sr. and son Jesse R. Torrez Jr. She is survived by her two sons, Daniel, wife Kimberly; Richard, wife Sharon and her three daughters, Irene, Rebecca, husband Rene and Helen. Fifteen grandchildren, Danielle, Cecilia, Olivia, Deanna, Matthew, Daniel, Marcus, Ezequiel, Marissa, Jessica, Zach, Veronica, Diego, Cynthia and Andrew. Thirteen great-grandchildren, Christian, Adrienne, Eden, Malachi, Isaiah, Jayden, Ian, Juliana, Jiselle, Gabrielle, Nevaeh, Celeste and Priscilla.
Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Grove Hill Funeral Home. The celebration of life service will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 3204 Skillman St. Dallas, TX on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 10:00 am followed by interment. A lunch will be held at the church immediately after interment.
