Lorraine was born on November 30, 1931, and was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and attended Newcomb College where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She was a devoted wife, mother and Catholic. Lorraine's children were her life and she thrived on the excitement and constant challenges that came with raising a large family. Many of her married years were spent running the day-to-day operations of the family business, Southland Marine Towing Corp. She kept a sharp eye on the books all the while keeping a close eye on her home crew until Jack would return from journeys along the Mississippi River. She shared the love of sailing with her husband and often spent weekends with the family on Lake Pontchartrain. The Mississippi Gulf Coast was her favorite getaway, and a vacation home in Bay St. Louis became the go-to gathering place for friends and family. She was quick to engage people and always interested in sharing stories. Family photos were close at hand. There was no such thing as too many people or pets in the house. All were welcome. Over time, her weakened heart slowed her pace but never diminished her zeal for life. We appreciated her sense of humor and easy-going nature, and truly enjoyed her company. If you were looking for Lo, all you had to do was look for one of her kids.

A Requiem Mass will be offered at noon Friday, March 24 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, mass intentions for the repose of the soul of Lorraine S. Stahl would be appreciated and may be sent to Our Lady of Grace Chapel, 2552 Kentucky Ave. Kenner, LA 70062.
