Mr. Louis Tart, son of the late Carrie B. Tart and Fred L. Parker, was born on January 7, 1930 in Mullins, South Carolina. He went home to be with the Lord peacefully in his home in Florence, South Carolina on February 8, 2018 at the age of 89. Louis attended the Mullins, SC public schools. He continued his education by taking adult education classes in New York. Louis married the love of his life, Emerdine Stuckey of Pamplico, SC on December 17, 1948. From this union, they had 5 beautiful children, James A. Tart, Janice L. McMillian, Gwendolyn Laughinghouse, Geraldine Watkins, and Louis I. Tart. His children remember him as a hardworking, great provider, way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, kind, gentle yet firm father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Louis moved to New York and began working and retired from Pavers Road and Construction Builders as a construction worker. Louis accepted the Lord as his personal savor at an early age. He attended Berean Missionary Baptist Church for 25 years. There, he served as an usher and a choir member under the late Rev. Hilton L. James and later Pastor Arlee Griffin. He also attended Mt. Rona Baptist Church where he served as a deacon under the leadership of the late Rev. Truman Tart. One of his favorite scriptures was John 14:1, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.” Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie B. Tart and Fred L. Parker; his son, James A. Tart; his daughter, Janice L. McMillan; brothers, Willie D. Tart, Clifton Tart, and Leo Tart; and grandson Lamar Young. Louis leaves to cherish his loving memories to his wife, Emerdine Tart; two daughters, Gwendolyn Laughinghouse and Geraldine Watkins; his son, Louis I. Tart (Melissa); brother, Reginald B. Tart (Joy); brother-in-law, Samuel Stuckey; sisters-in-law, Elsie Belin, Myrtle Davis; granddaughters, Adrianne Tart, Alasia Milerson, Shannora Odem, Alexes Davis, and Jomare Watkins; grandsons, Kenneth Briggs, Damian McMillan (Natasha), Jermel Henderson, Justin Davis, Marlon Watkins, Reginald Watkins, Jr. (Bianca), and Jovan Watkins; 21 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
