Louise Elizabeth Casdorph McLaughlin, 96, passed away of natural causes at the WV Veterans’ Nursing Home on November 12, 2015.



Louise was born on June 12, 1919 to John Ohley Casdorph and Etta Josephine Lamoreaux Casdorph in Charleston, West Virginia. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Caleb Casdorph, John Casdorph, Charles Casdorph, and James Casdorph and a sister Rayma Casdorph Atkinson Schwartz as well as her husbands, Fred Bailiff, Tom Patton and Garland McLaughlin. Louise was know as “Sis” to most of her family.



She was one of the first female Marines in West Virginia and served during WW II from November 1943 to December 1945. Louise has a witty sense of humor and always enjoyed a good joke. She will be remembered as an independent woman who always took pride in her appearance. Louise was a secretary most of her working years and prided herself in paying attention to detail both in her professional life as well as her private life. Before her eyesight failed, she was an avid reader and was always up on current affairs. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Charleston, WV.



Louise is survived by a brother, Oscar Casdorph of Gilbert, Arizona; a son, Fred Baliff in Tennessee, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Ruthanna Casdorph in Charleston.



Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Bartlett Burdette Cox Funeral Home, Charleston. Burial will follow in Guthrie Cemetery, Charleston. Friends and family may gather one hour prior to the service time.
