Lucille Lange Cmerek, age 96, of Austin passed away on June 23, 2017. She was born on September 26, 1920, in Noack, TX, to Selma and Richard Lange. She married Louis Cmerek on May 16, 1946, and they lived in Taylor and moved to Austin after their first child was born. Together, they raised four children, Bonnie, Bobby, Richey and David. Lucille was a charter member of Bethany Lutheran Church and ever steadfast in her faith.

Lucille was a loving hostess and caretaker to everyone who entered her home. All were welcome at her table and there was always enough. She was a gifted gardener and a wonderful cook. Lucille embodied the meaning of being a mother. a selfless, loving human, a protector, disciplinarian and friend who sacrificed for her children and grandchildren. She was deeply appreciated and will be lovingly missed.

Lucille is survived by her son, Richey Cmerek and wife Lisa, her eight grandchildren, Sherry Rumsey and husband Bryan, Jon Montgomery, Nicole Grupp and her husband Steve, Nathan Cmerek and his wife Julie, Nysha Wilson and her husband Jeff, Nolan Cmerek and his wife Nhi, Brenna Wetsel and her husband Nick, Nick Cmerek and great-grandchildren Nora Rumsey, Kaia Montgomery, Rhyle Goff, Hunter and Taylor Cmerek, Colby, Baylee and Brilyn Wilson, Nessa and Neal Cmerek. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Cmerek, her parents, Selma and Richard Lange, her brother, Harvey Lange, her daughter, Bonnie Montgomery, and her two sons, Bobby Cmerek and David Cmerek.

The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Brodie Ranch Healthcare Center for the extraordinary & loving care they provided to Lucille for the last five years. Also, thank you to Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassionate care given to Lucille during her last days.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel officiated by Pastor Bill Knippa. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.

Honoring Lucille as pallbearers will be Jon Montgomery, Bryan Rumsey, Nathan Cmerek, Nolan Cmerek, Nick Cmerek and Mike Pearson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethany Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
