Mrs. Lula Mae Price Ward, 98, Luella, GA, passed away June 26, 2017. Mrs. Ward was born in McDonough, GA, the daughter of the late Bertha Rodgers Price and Otis Wayman Price. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Dupree Ward; and brothers, Rodgers, Raburn and J. P. Price.

Mrs. Ward graduated from McDonough High School and then received a Business Degree from Draughons Business College in Atlanta, GA. She worked for an insurance company prior to WWII then at Loftis Jewelry Company where she met her husband. She later retired from the Henry County Credit Bureau. She was the oldest member of Luella Baptist Church where she was an adult Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, Devotional Leader and was always ready to serve in any capacity. Mrs. Ward served as a Royal Matron of the Order of The Amaranth and was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, her cats, traveling, gardening, sewing, cooking and was known for her pound cakes.

Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Mike Morgan of Homestead, FL and Polly and Warren Hiett of Juliette, GA; grandchildren, Marie and Brad Growden, Michael Morgan, Jonathan Morgan, David Courson, and Lance and Amanda Courson; great grandchildren, Monica, Morgan and Bethany; siblings, Leola Price Durden of McDonough, Merrell Price of Jackson and Dannie Sue and Bud Junkins of Hueyton, AL; and 14 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, June 30, 2017, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM prior to the funeral service. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Pastor Gaines Wise officiating. Interment will follow at the McDonough City Cemetery. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Luella Baptist Church or Sacred Journey Hospice.
